Nokia beefs up its high-tech service on its phone, the Nokia Maps.
The new version of the service now includes high-resolution aerial images, 3D landmarks for 216 cities as well as terrain maps.
Arguably, the new Nokia Maps can put Google Maps mobile version out of the competition. The service from one of the largest mobile phone manufacturer also gets new route overview during routing and during Drive. Drive is Nokia’s turn-by-turn car navigation guidance, something that makes the “don’t use your phone while driving” a thing of the past.
The new Nokia Maps also offer access to real time information (camera alerts, safety spots, traffic information among others to its users. It now also has the Wcities event guides that feed in event information including concerts, movies in over 450 key destinations to its users.
Other than the Nokia Maps, the company also improved Mail Ovi. It allows PC users to “create and access Ovi email accounts as well as gain cross access to other Ovi services with just a single sign-on account.” This allows easier usage of the platform.
