Have you ever tried using a public PC? Some of you might probably answer in the negative. Indeed, going to Internet cafés to surf the Web is starting to become unfashionable these days as portable computers continue to get cheaper.
But don’t expect net café’s to totally disappear soon. No matter how small PCs get, you won’t always find it convenient to carry it around with you. So there will definitely come a time when you’ll be forced to use a computer that’s not yours.
Using a public PC can be dangerous, so you’d better limit the things that you’ll do whenever you’re using one. Public computers are notorious for being a melting pot of viruses, just as public toilets are. Hundreds of people have already used it, so there’s a big chance that one of them might have introduced a worm in the system maliciously or inadvertently.
One of the things that you shouldn’t do when you’re using a computer that’s not yours is to engage in e-commerce. Whenever you buy things on the Internet, sensitive financial data will be asked of you, such as your credit card number. Many worms are embedded in public PCs that capture keystrokes, especially those that are keyed in on online stores. Unless you would want to give a virtual supplemental card to hackers, don’t conduct financial transactions on a PC that other people also use.
You should also think twice in accessing your e-mail or other accounts on a public computer. Again, malware that are designed to capture passwords are often injected into public PCs. Try to limit the things that you do in a public computer. Checking the latest NFL or NBA results is harmless. But checking your bank account balance on a net café can be suicidal.

If safety is your concern about security then ioSafe’s new external hard drive that is submersible and fire-proof should be on your consideration.
The fire-proof enclosure was originally leaked when the manufacturer hinted of 2.5-inch HDDs, wrapping them in armor, then stuffing them into 3.5-inch enclosures pus water and fire protection. But it now appears that they was a change in plans so here comes a larger and perhaps even harder external USB 2.0 enclosures.
The enclosure can fit in standard Western Digital or Seagate hard disks, enabling it to survive water submersion for three days and being caught on fire for 30 minutes.
There are three variants available namely 500GB, 1TB and 1.5TB. Price for 500GB is $199, and $348 for the 1.5TB model.
There is a warranty that comes with every purchase. The item can be purchased online by going to ioSafe’s official website.

In case you haven’t heard yet, millions of PCs around the globe are fast succumbing to a worm that experts have yet to completely dissect.
According to F-Secure, a security software company based in the US, around 9 million computers are already playing host to the dreaded malware called “Conficker.” Millions more are expected to be infected by it in the next few days.
Little information has been unearthed as to what the virus could do. What is conclusively known, though, is that it exploits networks and servers that have not installed the latest security patches issued for Windows RPC Server Service. The fact that many antivirus programs cannot detect it also exacerbates the problem.
Conficker, which also goes by the name “Downadup,” spreads rapidly as it immediately copies itself into systems and storage devices. It’s very difficult to detect as it uses different extension names.
While security software makers appear to have been caught flatfooted, they are already laying out plans to curb the infection. Microsoft has recently announced that the latest update of its malware detection and removal tool would already be able to identify and eliminate Conficker.

What looks to be like a non-minimalist thumb drive or USB flash drive is actually a micro digital player, and this one comes from no less than Green House.
Not exactly earth friendly or anything like that, but the new Kana Micro DAP may still be friendly in one way or another.
Different from other digital audio player, this one from Green House needs your own microSD for storage. The current limit is 2GB and we sure hope that it will be increased in the future, but for the meantime, you can settle for its 2 hours of battery life. Charging in case you haven’t guessed it is thru USB. It has a built-in USB that you can connect to your laptop, PC or other devices.
The player supports MP3, WMA, and WMA DRM files. It tips the scale at 10gms and has 55.4×20x10.5mm dimensions.

OCZ made a radical change into its solid-state drive family thru the release of the new Apex Series. The Apex Series have 2.5-inch slots and can be categorized between Solid models and speeder Vertex line.
Obvious enough, OCZ launched the product to give something that carries speed of flash based storage devices without needing to put a price tag that will make them greedy. The SATA-II based SSDs use RAID stripe that allows it to have a read / write speed of 230 MB / 160 MB per second.
The drives will be available in three variations: 60GB, 120GB and 250GB. These storage devices are built with an effort to lower power consumption.
OCZ also made into consideration the use of lightweight alloy housing to improve security and data stability particularly when moving the hard drives.
There is no word on the price as of this writing, but it will be available in the market very soon.

This thing has been foreseen by tech blogs, after being cracked and hacked there’s nothing really left for this piece of gaming console – it needs to be open and available to the general public.
At least that’s what authority blogs like IGN fee about the device. According to a blog post, it is almost sure that the Nintendo DSi will hit the streets of United States this coming April.
This is not just any other rumor, this is the rumor! In fact, there is already price tag to the very anticipated gaming platform. It is reported that it will be sold for $179.99 once it is released first week of April. There is no official word from Nintendo, but IGN justifies that this is just expected as Nintendo “doesn’t comment on rumors and speculation.”
There is no need to state how US gamers will embrace Nintendo DSi, it is pretty obvious already.
