Close All Apps Before Running a Registry Scan

Posted by Ruel

Have you ever wondered why your Registry cleaner advices you to close all programs before conducting a scan?

Such a prompt or advice can be annoying, especially if your work requires you to pound on your keyboard for most of your waking hours. It may also seem baseless.  If Windows allows multitasking, then why can’t you do some word processing while running a Registry scan at the same time?

The answer isn’t that difficult to explain. I’m sure you’ve already heard me say a couple of times that the Windows Registry is a virtual log of almost everything that goes on in your computer. Hence, it constantly changes whenever there’s a software that’s open or running.

Changes in the registry will definitely interfere with the scan. To prevent this, make it a point to close programs before running your Registry cleaner. It’s also advisable to close the apps on your system tray. This will ensure that the scan will not encounter any impediment, thereby producing fast and credible results.

You should also take note of this tip whenever you’re running a disk defragmenter.
