Fix Outlook Yourself

Posted by Kat

If you are a Windows user looking to optimize your computer system, you may need to fix Outlook.  And unlike many system problems, it does not always require technical expertise to do the job.  To begin with, Microsoft Outlook is the program used by Windows to send and receive emails.  Not every Windows user relies on Outlook to manage their emails, but those who do need to ensure that it is working properly.

More than anything else, people experiencing problems with Outlook report having difficulty opening Outlook.  Of course this makes for a big problem – not being able to access your emails can be extremely inconvenient at the very least.  Fortunately, despite this being a tremendous problem, the solution is generally pretty simple.

If your Outlook application is not opening, it is most likely that you have a corrupted OUTCMD.DAT file on your system.  This type of file is designed to store customizations made to your toolbar.  Despite its limited function, however, once it is corrupted it can prevent Outlook from opening.

To remove the corrupted file from your system you need to delete it.  This is easily accomplished by searching your computer for OUTCMD.DAT.  Once your computer finishes the search function and finds the file, you need only delete it.  Then, when you restart your computer and reopen Outlook, you should not have problems accessing your email.

This is a very simple process but one which can spare you a tremendous burden.  There is no reason why you should delay regaining access to your email when fixing Outlook is as simple as searching for and deleting a file. However, if you have problems, you can rely on Regcure to help you get your programs back in running order. Download Regcure to fix Outlook and fully optimize your PC in under two minutes.

Learn Some Internet Explorer Fixes to Optimize Your Computer

Posted by Kat

When trying to optimize your computer system, learning some Internet Explorer fixes may be useful.  While Internet Explorer fixes may not be the end all and be all of system optimization, tuning your Internet Explorer is always a good starting point.  Many of the problems that people deal with on their browser have to do with malware or spyware.  But while these issues are the most prevalent types of problems people encounter with Internet Explorer, they are certainly not the only problems.

You may have difficulty viewing the web pages you visit.  This is evident in a number of ways:  1) A red “x” may display on your screen instead of pictures.  2) You may receive errors saying “page cannot be displayed.”  If you experience one or both of these problems, you should attempt to empty the cache.  This is a simple remedy and one that most anybody can attempt.  All you need to do is delete all offline content.  You access this from the Delete Files window from within the Internet Options tab.

Emptying the cache is effective when it is too full.  However, if there is a corrupt file stored to your system, merely emptying the cache will be insufficient.  Nevertheless, this should always be your first step as it will help your computer to run more efficiently.  As such, emptying the cache is something you could actually do on a regular basis to ensure your computer runs as efficiently as possible.  That said, to fully achieve Internet Explorer fixes, download Regcure to completely optimize your PC.

You can start by removing unnecessary programs. However, before you do this you need to know which systems are safe to remove.  This is because you can actually create serious problems by uninstalling systems which your computer requires to operate.  Because computer efficiency is so important to most computer users, you could benefit greatly by learning which systems are safe to uninstall as the first step to optimizing your PC.

The fact of the matter is that everybody has different uses for their computer.  If you do not require certain systems, though, there is no reason to leave them on your system.  The following are some suggestions as to which systems are safe to uninstall.  So long as you do not need these applications to accomplish your tasks, it is safe to uninstall them:

  • Windows Audio:  This system is required to play sounds or music, but if you only use your computer for writing, it is fine to uninstall this system.
  • Windows Firewall:  You should only uninstall this system if you have a software firewall from a third party.  Otherwise, removing this system could lead to problems in the future.
  • Windows Search:  If you do not need to quickly search or index your personal files, it is fine to uninstall this program.
  • WMI Performance Adapter:  This can be removed if you have no need for performance information.

Turning Off Services to Eliminate Windows XP Problems

Posted by Kat

Windows XP problems often stem from the fact that Windows XP runs so many systems simultaneously.  As such, to eliminate Windows XP problems, you can sometimes take as simple an action as shutting down some of the applications which Windows XP runs.  This is a simple cure to a complicated problem, but it requires that you have a working knowledge of the systems run by Windows XP.

When turning certain services off, you need to understand that Windows XP requires some services to operate effectively.  On the other hand, Windows XP runs many services which are of no use at all to the average computer system.  Discerning between the critical systems and those which are of no use is critical when trying to optimize your PC.

The following are some of Windows systems which you can safely turn off:
1) Automatic Updates:  Be careful not to disable this service if you believe you want updates on new services.  2) Alerter:  Most individuals do not use this service and it can generally be disabled without causing issues.  3) Error Reporting Service:  This service does not have a real utility as there is no dire need to report errors to Microsoft.  4) Help and Support:  This may not be a necessary service for those who do not require the assistance of Microsoft, and it can be disabled without causing issue.

This is just a short list of services which can be disabled without causing further Windows XP problems.  However, there is much more to optimizing your PC than merely disabling these services.  Download Regcure to fix Windows XP problems and fully optimize your PC.

Optimize Your System by Examining Video Drivers

Posted by Kat

Video drivers are oftentimes the cause behind a computer system that does not run efficiently.  As such, one of the critical steps towards optimizing your computer is ensuring that your video drivers are functioning properly.  If you use a graphic card for your computer you are probably well aware of how detrimental it is to your system’s functioning to have the wrong driver for the particular card.

As far as diagnosis goes, how do you know that you have the wrong driver?  The following are a few surefire ways of knowing that you should examine your video driver:  1) Your computer runs sluggishly when you are playing videos back or playing video games.  2) You are unable to use the proper resolution for your designated monitor.  3) You are unable to play videos back on your system.  If you are experiencing any of these technical difficulties, it is likely that you need to update your video driver.

While diagnosing a video driver problem is relatively simple in that you will noticeably be able to discern an issue, fixing the problem is not always so simple.  Even though fixing your system may require nothing more than updating your video driver, the fact of the matter is that there are a wide variety of video drivers available.  As such, merely determining which video driver to install is sometimes a hurdle in and of itself.

To assist you in updating your video driver, you may need assistance from a program specifically designed for system optimization.  Download Regcure to fix your video driver and optimize your PC.

Bing Stands Up Beyond Expectations

Posted by Mike

When Microsoft originally announced Bing (which was initially named Kumo) many people thought that it was going to be a complete failure. No one believed that it would be able to compete with Google. Even though Bing has not officially hit the market yet, users that got to test it said that not only will it compete with Google but that it may be in fact better in some aspects.

Bing is supposed to go Live on June 3rd and replace the Live Search that currently exists. Microsoft is trying to reclaim some of its consumers that it lost to the Google technology years ago.

The new Bing is powered by a special technology that Microsoft acquired when it acquired Powerset. This allows for Bing to give users an extra side bar on the left side that shows refined versions of your search. For example if you search for a game you will most likely get a walkthrough displayed in the refined search area.

While Bing maybe a competitor for Google it’s by no means 100% better. When tested with real world searches, Google still found better results than Bing. However it wasn’t by much. Even when searching for product reviews this was true. This could still be a problem for Google though as “not by much” could turn into “better than”.

If you’re searching for news then you may want to consider trying Bing as the results were more current with news without having to sort and search through all of the news. Equally good is Bing’s video results. You would expect that Google would do a lot better than Bing in this area however Bing’s results are easier to search through than Google’s. While the actual results are approximately the same many people may prefer the better presentation that Bing has to offer in some categories. Ultimately Google will have to step up their game to keep their full market share.

Optimizing Windows XP

Posted by Kat

Windows XP essentially runs all of your Windows.  As such, Windows XP starts and runs a plethora of services every time you start up your computer system.  The thing about this is that while Windows XP starts a variety of services, the chances of you actually requiring of all of these services is slim to none.  Ultimately, Windows XP starts every service available, even though you may only need a slim portion of these services.

By running all of the available services, Windows XP uses a lot of your system’s operating capacities.  This means that there is less of your system available for you to accomplish what you set out to do on your computer.  The bottom line here is that this results in inefficiency.  And if you are anything like most computer users, efficiency is at the top of your priorities when it comes to using your computer system.

The solution here is to shut down the services ran by Windows XP that you do not need or intend to use.  There is more than one method of shutting down services you do not need.  One possible way is to use the tab Services from the page MSCONFIG and manually turn off the undesired services.  A better method of shutting down unused services is by using the Services Management Tool from your Control Panel.  With this tool you can more effectively manage which services you wish to keep on your system.

Even after shutting down services you do not require, Windows XP may not run as smoothly as you would like it to.  There is more you can do to ensure Windows XP is running at its full capacity. Download Regcure to optimize Windows XP in under two minutes!
