Create a Back Up Before you Attempt to Speed up Your Computer

If you use your computer on a regular basis you have probably wondered on several occasions how you can speed up your computer.  The answer to how to speed up your computer is multi-faceted.  Some of the methods you can employ to speed up your computer are quite simple while other methods are extremely complex.  Some of the methods of speeding up your system have very little risk involved while other methods create a risk that you could lose valuable data.

Because there is a possibility for losing data, it is always a good idea to back up your computer before you start messing with it.  You should perform the back up before you perform any troubleshooting.  This will ensure that everything on your system remains free from potential loss.  Keep in mind that this is not just a warning for the overly cautious people, but one which everybody should heed.

Microsoft provides a tool which will assist you with backing up your system, called the Backup Wizard.  Here is how you use it:

  • From All Programs in the Start menu, open the Accessories tab.
  • Open the System Tools tab
  • Click on Backup
  • Follow the prompts on the Backup Wizard
