SP3 Install Error Repairs
If you have already downloaded SP3 and are experiencing problems associated with a botched download, these useful steps may help you:
- Uninstall SP3 by going to Start.
- Go to Run.
- Enter “appwiz.cpl”.
- Click to select the Show Updates check box.
- Click Windows XP Service Pack 3.
- Then click Remove.
- Click Finish.
- Reboot your computer after it has been removed.
Optimize Your PC after an Install Error
Take this time to perform a quick PC check up. Defragment, error-check, and check your computer’s hard disk for any errors. This may take up to several hours. After you are finished, download SP3 again, restart, and check for any problems you were experiencing previously.
If the problems resurface, uninstall SP3 again. Usually, if problems persist after a second download, it is because of a registry error on your computer that is preventing SP3 from completely downloading.
Fix errors from an install by downloading and utilizing a good registry cleaner. The cleaner will find and fix registry errors and prevent future errors that can hinder your computer’s performance. Save yourself the trouble of harmful crashes/freezes and consequential data loss caused by registry errors.
