Fix Blue Screen of Death Problems and Run Your PC Error-Free

Posted by Kat

Blue screen of death errors are a notorious and common problem with the Windows operating system. In order to fix blue screen of death (BSOD) Windows stop errors, you’ll need to troubleshoot your computer to really nail down the direct cause of your problem.

BSODs can be cause by a variety of problems: driver, software, hardware, temperature problems, and even device incompatibility.

The first thing you’ll want to do is record the error code that it gives you on the blue screen. That can be difficult to do because the system restarts by default.

To keep the system from restarting on system failure, follow these steps:

  • Open the Control Panel via the Start menu
  • Go to “System and Maintenance”
  • Select “System”
  • Click “Advanced System Settings” in the task panel
  • In the System Properties box, (under the “Startup and Recovery” heading), click the “Settings” button.
  • Clear the checkbox “Automatic Restart” under “System Failure”

Dealing with Temperature Problems

Be sure that all your fans are working and your case has a nice air flow. Controlling temperature is all about getting the heat off of your hardware components.

As a general rule, shut down your computer when you are not using instead of leaving it running. This will help with general performance as well, because sometimes a computer just needs a good reset to get itself back into working order.

You can check your temperature in your BIOS during a boot. Your CPU should run 33 degrees Celsius idle and maximum of 60 degrees Celsius while working hard.

Driver and Software Issues

The most common cause of BSODs is driver errors. Reinstall and update your device drivers to make sure that they’re fully intact and running properly.

If you have installed any new hardware, be certain that you get the proper driver for your new hardware.

Check your Windows updates. Download the updates, especially if they include service packs or any critical security data.

Malicious Spyware, Adware, and Viruses

Viruses can often cause system errors. Run programs that each specializes in antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-adware, and registry cleaning.

Because they are each focused on a specific function, they are more likely to pick up what another program might miss.

It may sound unlikely, but I have often gotten different results from different programs. While my antivirus didn’t necessarily detect something, my anti-spyware picked something up and fixed the problem.

Fix blue screens of death Windows stop errors by maintaining a secure computer with a registry cleaner. You’ll find that if you keep your computer clean, protected, and organized, it will save you many headaches in the long run.
