Acer is not letting its brand be boxed with netbooks and cheap computers. Just recently, the number one seller of netbooks in the world released an ultra advanced quad-core Aspire.

The Aspire 8930G laptop is a monster with Core2 Quad Mobile Processor Q9000. it has a sleek screen size of 18.4 inches and yet the power that is has is more monstrous compared to its bigger counterparts.

Acer targets 3D gamers and other hardcore users with this new unit. Backing the quad-core is 12MB of shared L2 cache and 1066MHz Front Side Bus that appears overclocked (even though it is not) at 2.53GHz.

Apart from the superior innards, Aspire 8930G also boasts its widescreen full HD screen. Matching this display is a Blu-ray drive, NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT graphics card and Dolby Home Theatre audio system to give you that complete mobile entertainment system.

Asus Loses Crown to Acer

Posted by Mike

It seems that the year is about to end with sad face on the big bosses of Asus. The netbook pioneer lost its crown to Acer on the most number of netbooks (a product they supposedly invented) sold this year.

Statistics in the third quarter of 2008 indicated that Acer got 38.3 percent of total netbook or mini laptop market share. The company sold over 2.15 million netbooks, kiddling Asus with only 1.7 million units sold, equivalent to roughly 30.3 percent.

Analysts see the price drop in Acer’s units as the main cause of its dominance in market. Acer Aspire currently is being sold for $299. The netbook that runs on XP is among Acer’s most popular netbook.

The latest netbook from Asus Eee PC 1002HA apparently was not able to pull their market shares completely.

MSI and HP on the other hand also had a noteworthy share on the netbook market. Almost not visible in the ranking are Samsung and the rest of the netbook makers.

Lucrative Fruit Business

Have you noticed Apple’s fast ascendancy in various fields?

While it hasn’t beaten Nokia and Motorola just yet in the mobile phone industry, it has definitely won the ears of millions of people around the world with the iPod. Its notebook is still considered as a novelty items by many, but it’s fast gaining ground in its attempt to unseat heavyweights, such as IBM, Toshiba, Fujitsu, and Acer as the most wanted brand in portable computing.

I wonder if Apple’s OS would soon end Windows reign. Many doubt it, especially since the OS X has yet to reach a number of countries outside the United States. While I also share the same sentiment, I’m not totally closing the door on Apple. When the iPod was released a few years ago, I thought that the hype was just a fad. I was wrong. It totally shook the music industry and rearranged the order of things, with Apple on top of course.

Many expect the same kind of support for the iPhone. Unfortunately, a few technical, as well as business limitations, may have watered down the market potential of the gadget. But I’m sure Apple will think of something in order to entice people into dropping their N95 or Razr for the iPhone. The same thing is true for the OS X. It’s just a matter of time when Apple will start concentrating on its OS and make a bid for the distinction as the widely used operating system in the world.
