Samsung is dead serious about the new PL10. Their 2-page press release about the product justifies that. Not that we are complaining, the dubbed multimedia camera is packed with features.
Samsung PL10 sports a 9 megapixel and has a 7 inch LCD screen and PMP (Personal Multimedia Player) with integrated MP3 player. Yes it is a camera and a music player in one. Perhaps Samsung wants us to listen to some cool sounds while taking pictures, or vice versa.
The camera features Face Recognition, Perfect Portrait System, Smart Auto and Frame guide which aren’t really surprising.
The MP3 function allows you to create slideshows with music, plug it into an external video device and you have a hell of a good visual show.
The Smart Auto Screen Recognition optimizes picture settings for ease of use. There are different modes including Portrait, Night portrait, Macro and Macro Colour.
Smart Album allows extended management of photos while Face Detection and Recognition, well are pretty self explanatory.
It will be available in camera stores this April in colors such as, royal black, arty red, candy pink and purple. The tag mark would be around £179.

No, we’re not sure if this is for scientists turned photographers, but we’re pretty sure that this is not for ordinary camera handlers. The new Nikon Fabre Photo EX DSLR-based Stereoscopic Microscope can surely bring out either your fear of science or fear of microbes.
This new camera with up to 66 times from a 1.5 crop factor image sensor is certainly for hardcore users.
This is the not the first Fabre Photo camera, but Nikon decided to beef up the already sturdy chassis of the camera. Nikon applied new coating on optics department to enhance image quality at the same time improving the rigidity and general look of the camera.
The unit uses AA batteries that will last up to 10 hours of continues use (we don’t know which battery brand they tested tho). The camera has an adjustable inner tube system that allows 3 level of magnification.
You can have this really geeky looking camera for ¥108,150 or around $1,200. As expected, it will initially be released in Japan.

Panasonic unleashed the world’s smallest and lightest digital interchangeable lens camera. The mouthful title actually means that the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G1 is a hybrid between digital single lens reflex cameras and traditional point-and-shoot digital cameras.
The LUMIX DMC-G1 employs the unique Micro Four Thirds system that eliminates the internal mirror structure of the camera therefore making it lightweight and more compact without losing superb image capturing capability.
The 12.1-MP camera can render images of up to 1.44 million pixels.
Aside from being the first of its kind, the camera also showcases other amazing features. It has a Live MOS Sensor which allows it to capture images in superb brilliance and clarity.
It also has an HDMI output and Venus Engine HD system, a technology that reduces noise in pictures while allowing customization of R, G and B colors of images.
It has the Supersonic Wave Filter Dust Reduction System that prevents dust accumulation in the image sensor, thereby protecting one of the most delicate parts of the camera.
The only sad news is that you will have to wait until October if you want to grab this camera.

Tamron, makers of quality camera lenses unveiled a unique ultra high power zoon lens that is hyped as the world’s first 15x stabilized zoom lens for Nikon and Canon SLR cameras.
While the category as to which the new lens belongs may not appeal to the general public, hardcore camera enthusiasts had long called for a high resolution and high magnification stabilized lens for modern digital SLRs.
The Tamron AF18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO (Model B003) is the first lens in the world to combine high zoom ratio and effective Vibration Compensation (VC) mechanism. This allows capturing of super detailed images without leaving a long telephoto setting.
Taking pictures in long distances is also made easier with the lens’ vast zoon-range and wide angle capability. Photographers will only need to turn on the zooming control.
The new lens also sports Tamron’s tri-axial Vibration Compensation system that reduces the effect of camera shakes in images. This makes taking pictures without the use of a tripod a breeze. The technology also has a strong implication on candid, sports and news photography.
The lens’ price is not yet disclosed.
