How PC Repair Tools Will Optimize Your Computer

Posted by Kat

While you can wait for errors to manifest themselves on your PC, why not use some PC repair tools before the problems start?  Using PC repair tools on your computer just as a precaution will prevent a host of computer problems and optimize computer performance, bringing it to a new level.  Who’s ready for little guided tour?

Routine Error Repair Tools

Whether you have noticed or not, an unmaintained PC is accumulating various errors all the time.  Sometimes those errors take a while to manifest themselves, but you don’t have to wait until they show up and cause problems to take care of them.

For example, “fragmentation” of files happens no matter what you do, and unless you use the Disk Defragmenter tool, this situation won’t be fixed.

  • Locate this tool under My Computer and right-click on the disk you want to check.
  • The Disk Defragmenter is under Preferences and then Tools.

Hard disk errors also accumulate from routine computer use.  If these are not addressed they can be the cause of error messages in the future.  Fortunately, a repair kit in the form of the Check Disk tool is also provided with your computer.

  • This is also located under My Computer by right-clicking on your hard disk.
  • Again, go to the Preferences window and then Tools.
  • A dialogue box will appear with the option to Check Disk Now.

Choosing Other Computer Repair Tools for Your PC

If you are starting to see a lot of file errors or registry errors (which can be anything from DLL and EXE errors to blue screen messages and program freezes), you will need to choose some repair tools that target the Windows registry.  This area of your computer stores files that the computer uses during every session, and when the computer has trouble accessing files or can’t locate one, you see an error.

If you are having problems with a specific program that you’ve recently removed or updated, it may be that there are some files leftover in your PC that did not get removed during the uninstall function.  Some software manufacturers offer Program Removal Kits that will thoroughly remove their program (or old versions of it) from your PC.  You can also find removal kits that are less program-specific for download online.  Just make sure you are using a trusted site.

The Best Repair Tool for Your PC

If you are having trouble narrowing down what kind of tool to use to improve performance or if you’re still unsatisfied with your computer’s activities after using the above tools, it’s time to add a registry cleaner to your arsenal of repair tools.  Download a registry cleaner as one of your PC repair tools to optimize performance and fix errors all at once.

3 Easy Steps for Computer Clean Up

Posted by Kat

To keep your computer running smoothly and in a timely fashion, it is important to keep your computer’s hard drive clean and tidy.  For optimal performance from your computer, follow these three easy steps for computer clean up:

Freeing Up Disk Space

By utilizing the Disk Cleanup tool, you can free up space on your hard disk.  By identifying files that can be safely deleted and then enabling you to choose which of those files to delete, the Disk Cleanup tool aids in improving the performance of your computer.

Disk Cleanup helps remove temporary internet files, empty the recycle bin, remove downloaded program files, remove temporary Windows files and unused optional Windows components, and remove installed programs you don’t use.

Disk Defragmentation

Because it slows the overall performance of your computer’s system, fragmentation of files on the hard disk is one of the key corrections in computer clean up.  To correct and help prevent disk fragmentation, the Disk Defragmenter utility should be used.  By consolidating fragmented files and folders and storing files contiguously, the Disk Defragmenter clears space and speeds up disk processing.

Checking For and Repairing Disk Errors

In tandem with the Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter utilities, the Error Checking (Check Disk or CHKDSK) utility can also be used to optimize computer performance.  During the life of your computer, hard drive use can trigger the development of bad sectors.  This slows down the performance of the hard disk and often makes data writing (file saving) difficult or impossible.

The Error Checking utility scans the hard drive and corrects bad sectors, file system errors, and misplaced folders.

The best thing to do is maintain your computer’s operating system before you start experiencing errors that eventually lead to a full on computer crash.  Add a registry cleaner to your computer clean up to fully optimize your computer’s performance.  You will be surprised how much more efficiently your computer works, too.  No more sitting and watching the hourglass if you keep up with registry cleaning!

7 Benefits of Using the Disk Defragmenter

Posted by Kat

By definition, disk defragmentation is an organizational process in which the amount of file fragmentation in the operating system is reduced.  The disk defragmenter basically sorts and organizes files, placing them closely together in a contiguous fashion, i.e., files placed in chronological/numerical order.

The files are then compacted or compressed, which eliminates any free space between files and consequently reduces the need for future fragmentation in those regions.

Fragmentation of Files

Fragmentation usually occurs when gaps appear between files in the computer system due to inefficiency of the operating system or after previous files have been deleted.  Because the operating system cannot assign enough contiguous space in which a the complete file can be stored as a unit, the file is broken up and placed in these gaps. These gaps and fragmentation in the storage system makes the running time of the operating system to be impaired, causing computer slowing and performance loss.

7 Benefits of a Disk Defragmenter

After the disk defragmenter has done its job, the storage system of your computer will:

1.  contain more contiguous files
2. fewer gaps
3. easier-to-read access zones for your computer
4. optimizes speed, run-time, and overall smoothness of your computer’s performance

Most defragmenter softwares will also:

5.  perform partitioning, which will allocate partitions for long-term and short-term files,
6. strengthen performance in locating and running long-term files
7. keep short-term files from fragmenting other partitions

To keep your computer in prime shape, defragmentation is recommended once monthly or bimonthly to ensure computer performance is at its best.  Use your disk defragmenter with a registry cleaner to optimize performance.  If you’ve ever done a disk fragmentation and it has taken forever, you probably need to run a registry cleaner more often.  Just think, no more waiting for that hourglass to disappear.

Disk-oing Files

Posted by Kat

Contrary to what some believe, optimizing your PC is just as easy as playing Solitaire or Minesweeper on Windows. Many users are sometimes intimidated by the gamut of details that come out of their screen after a disk or system scan.

There are several tools by which you can improve the performance of your PC. One of my favorites is the disk defragmenter. This optimization option can be very helpful, if not a must, for users like me who always install and uninstall applications in their computer.

The ideal arrangement of files or applications in a hard drive is that they should occupy a single, contiguous space so that it could easily be accessed. However, this is not always the case. The hard drive writes files on the first vacant space that it finds. However, that free disk estate cannot usually accommodate the whole file. Hence, half of the file or application is placed elsewhere in the disk.

A disk defragmenter solves this dilemma by rearranging the files in the disk in such a way that each file or a group of related files are placed on a specific and contiguous portion of the disk. This would make it easier for the computer to access them since it won’t have to sort out its entire hard disk to open the file or application. This is just one of the ways by which you could harness the full potential of your PC. Don’t limit yourself to this option alone though. Clean your registries and make sure that your disk is in top shape, too.
