How to Solve Cetihpz Errors

Posted by Kat

The cetihpz error cetihpz://errors/blank.htm is a common error associated with Hewlett Packard (HP) printers and scanners.  The error appears as a blank blue window that says cetihpz://errors/blank.htm.  It appears whether your computer is offline or on, cannot be exited, and will reappear every time your PC is rebooted.

Don’t Worry: Cetihpz Error is Harmless
One positive piece of information: the error is harmless.  The citehpz error cetihpz://errors/blank.htm will not affect your PC in any way, negative or positive.  It is merely a DLL communications error that occurs when your computer tries to search the Hewlett Packard website for updates.  Little is known about this error and why it occurs other than the fact that it is harmless and, most importantly, it is fixable.

Remove Cetihpz Errors
To effectively get rid of this annoying window, it’s as simple as uninstalling your current HP printer or scanner, rebooting, then reinstalling.  To do this, follow these easy instructions:

  1. On your start menu, open Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel window, select the Add or Remove Programs icon.  It may take a few minutes for your computer to populate the list of programs.
  3. Search the list for your HP printer or scanner, and uninstall all software, users guides, and auxiliary programs.
  4. Reboot your computer.

Your computer should be free of that little blue screen and at this time, you can reinstall your printer/scanner safely.  In some cases, merely updating your printer or scanner’s driver can solve the cetihpz://errors/blank.htm error.

Avoid cetihpz erros and similar errors on your PC when you download and utilize a good registry cleaner.  A registry cleaner will fix errors on your computer’s hard drive and prevent headaches from having to figure out how to fix them yourself.

Bad Batteries Found: HP Laptops

Posted by Mike

It took two reports of batteries causing flames for Hewlett Packard to recall the batteries. The company is taking back 70,000 batteries on its laptops. The laptop models that were affected were in both the HP and the Compaq laptop lines. There’s a total of 18 models that were affected with 9 being HP and 9 begin Compaq models.
So what happened? There were two different cases where the batteries overheated and ruptured. Now overheating just came from normal use of the laptop and battery so there’s no reason that it should have happened if it had been manufactured properly.
The fires caused some minor property damage but no one was injured luckily. Which is surprising because you would think someone would possibly have the laptop on their lap when the overheating occurred. If they didn’t have it on their laps then the real question is where was the laptop? Is it possible that they put the laptop on a blanket or something that contained heat that lead to the overheating? I guess we may never know however you would think that they would have any battery problems solved after all this time. We’ve been using batteries for several years now and laptops have been around for over a decade. So why are we still having such basic problems with things that have been around?
In any case this isn’t the first time HP has been in a battery recall and it probably won’t be the last. While HP sold 32,000 laptops containing the batteries that’s a small number compared to when Sony had their massive battery recall back in 2006. If you’re worried that you may have one of these batteries or laptops you can get a full list of model numbers at the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.

Asus Loses Crown to Acer

Posted by Mike

It seems that the year is about to end with sad face on the big bosses of Asus. The netbook pioneer lost its crown to Acer on the most number of netbooks (a product they supposedly invented) sold this year.

Statistics in the third quarter of 2008 indicated that Acer got 38.3 percent of total netbook or mini laptop market share. The company sold over 2.15 million netbooks, kiddling Asus with only 1.7 million units sold, equivalent to roughly 30.3 percent.

Analysts see the price drop in Acer’s units as the main cause of its dominance in market. Acer Aspire currently is being sold for $299. The netbook that runs on XP is among Acer’s most popular netbook.

The latest netbook from Asus Eee PC 1002HA apparently was not able to pull their market shares completely.

MSI and HP on the other hand also had a noteworthy share on the netbook market. Almost not visible in the ranking are Samsung and the rest of the netbook makers.

HP Intros Mini-Q Nettop with Dual-core Atom CPU

Posted by Mike

HP unleashed its highly hyped nettop PC, the mini-Q 2030. Dubbed by a few tech enthusiasts as the next big think in small computing, the mini-Q has specifications a little advanced than mini workstations

The mini-Q is run by Intel’s 1.6GHz dual-core Atom 330 processor and 2GB of DDR2 RAM. While most small laptops have a hard drive of 80GB, this one packs 160GB 7,200 rpm.

The mini-Q laptop also has a dual-layer DVD burner, four USB 2.0 ports and two PS/2 ports. It comes preloaded with Windows Vista.

One of the things that separate mini-Q from its counterpart is its weight. The mini-Q weighs around 4.4 pounds without the monitor and its peripherals.

Alongside the unveiling of the mini-Q 2030 is the mini-Q 2020. Another new computer that runs on single-core Atom 230 rated at the same 1.6GHz, half the RAM at 1GB. It uses Windows XP.

HP’s mino-Q 2030 will be available in Taiwan for $386. The lesser edgy mini-Q 2020 is tagged at $296.

HP Launches 16-inch Media Center

Posted by Mike

HP makes its small laptop even smaller. The company overhauled its HDX 18 to make it HDX 16, equivalent to a transformation of its 18-inch display in a 16-inch LCD.

The smaller screen perhaps made it cuter and yet the metallic finish and classy chrome interior still makes this laptop gorgeous. The laptop now weighs 7.4 pounds with a 6-cell battery. Buyers have the option to upgrade its power source into either a 12 or a 16-cell battery.

The laptop suffered a slight loss in resolution quality. From 1080p it now has a 1,366-by-768 screen resolution.

The HDX 16 however packs a powerful machine inside. It is powered by Intel’s Centrino 2. It has a 2.26-GHz Core 2 Duo P8400 processor that is backed by 4GB DRR2 RAM. Its nVidia GeForce 9600M GT engine should be enough for small graphic rendering.

The HDX1 is available with 320GB storage, an optional TV tuner and a fast eSATA port.

One amazing thing about this laptop is the number keypad. HP placed a whole functional num pad on the left side of the keyboard to give you that perfect PC experience.

On related news, HP will also be releasing HP Pavilion dv6929wm-b, a special laptop that will be available exclusively in Wal-Mart. This laptop is part of HP and Wal-Mart’s green drive.

HP Pavilion dv6929wm-b runs on a 2-GHz AMD Turion X2 TL-60 processor. It has a 250GB hard drive and is bundled with a Windows Vista Home Premium OS. It is also packed with a savvy nVidia GeForce Go 7150 integrated graphics chipset inside. It is tagged at $1,049.

HP is yet to announce the price of HDX 16.
