In case you haven’t noticed, CRT monitors are slowly marching their way to the Smithsonian. With LCD and plasma production costs going down, PC makers are bundling their CPU’s with visuals that could fit even the most cluttered desk in the office.

The situation was different just two years ago when LCDs were just testing the market. CRTs still dominated the scene as they still provide the best graphics. These bulky monitors might be heavy on the scale, but they’re definitely lighter on the pocket.

One thing that initially turned off potential LCD buyers was the product’s pixel flaw. Many buyers reported dead pixels that litter their screen, producing tiny black spots that cannot be brushed back into color. In case you don’t know, dead pixels cannot be resurrected anymore.

Another thing that drove away many from plasma is its picture quality. While recent models have considerably improved display vibrancy, it still hasn’t totally answered problems regarding viewing angles. I’m sure you’ve noticed that LCD pictures are crisp when viewed straight on, but fade on other angles. HD LCDs may have already solved this dilemma, but they’re still too expensive.

Whatever your doubts or misgivings on LCDs, they’ll inevitably phase out CRT monitors. You may not be too happy on their picture quality (yet), but at the rate that manufactures are improving the technology, you might find yourself swapping that bulky contraption on top of your CPU with a thinner one next year.

The appearance of V12 Design’s dual LCD concept astonished many, but here’s what will even surprise you. The almost crazy dual screen mobile computer is apparently close to production.

Dubbed as the Canova, the laptop design in Italy features an LCD replacing traditional keyboard and trackpad. There are no information about the specs and innards of this new machine, heck their official site contains no more than flashy images of the design. But still that is more than enough to keep excited enthusiasts to gossip about the dual LCD laptop.

Estari, an American company will be bringing the laptop closer to your offices and home. There are rumors that its cost would be around $400, again this is still an unofficial announcement.

Despite its almost unshakable reputation as the grandest netbook maker under the name Eee, Asus continue surprise us thru introduction of other products. This time, the company released a new 16:9 LCD monitor.

Far from the usually cheap and small electronic devices is the VH-series monitor. The VH range from medium to large scale monitors. The VH192 model is confident at 18.5 inch display. VH222 and VH226 on the other hand both have 21.5 inch screen. The largest of these monitors is the 23.6 inch VH242. Its 1366 x 768 resolution is simply impressive. All of these models run at 1080p.

These new monitors sport Asus’ “Smart Contrast Ratio” system. “Smart Contrast Ratio” is a technology developed to allow 10,000:1 to 20,000:1 ratio. All of the models, except for the low-end VH192 has HDMI port, so you can erase that from your list if you want to have the screen of the future. The monitors all have built-in speakers and VGA and DVI ports.

There is no information on the price and date of release, but we can be sure that these monitors won’t be as cheap as their netbooks.
