Why You Must Know the Ins and Outs of Outlook Express Problems

Posted by Kat

It is common these days to have Outlook Express problems. You may know you need to repair Outlook Express, but you may not know how. This is where I come in. I’m going to share with you the most common problems.  Then I’m going to tell you what causes these problems.  After that, I will tell you how to repair your Outlook Express. I feel that everyone should have a clue as to why things go wrong.

Symptoms of Outlook Express Errors
First, the problems you may be encountering.  Any of these will give you headaches:

  • Your Outlook Express may be hanging or crashing
  • You may be unable to send or receive e-mail.
  • You may be receiving excessive spam
  • You can’t open folders.

Common Cause of Outlook Express Errors
Now on to the cause. The cause can simply be put as registry errors.  Since you would have to know how a computer works and something about programming to know what a registry error is, I will put it in layman’s terms.

The registry is the core programming of your Windows operating system. So when something goes wrong in the registry, you will see it in the programs you use daily and the performance of your computer in general.

Fixing Outlook Express Problems
You can try several different avenues for repairing Outlook Express manually, but most of them are just trial and error.  There is no definitive solution.  Start with the easiest one first.  All you have to do is restart your computer.  Sometimes this is enough to reorganize the files and get you on the way.  If it doesn’t work, try this:

  1. Shut down all the other programs and keep Outlook and your Internet Browser open.
  2. Delete all your Temporary Files by going to “Options” in your browser.
  3. Select “Tools” and go to “Delete Temporary Files”.
  4. When the box appears, make sure you select “Delete all offline temporary files”, too.  This will make sure that the temporary files in Outlook will be deleted.

If none of this works, you could always reregister Outlook.  Sometimes compacting the folders within your Outlook program performs wonders, too.  When all else fails, try a registry cleaner to prevent and maintain your computer.

Before you jump right into any old registry cleaner software, research how to repair Outlook Express.  I have found the most helpful and informative options at this website.  Whether you decide to try a manual fix or see if a registry cleaner will catch it, regular maintenance of your registry is necessary in extending the life of your computer.

It might hang and/or crash, or maybe you can’t send or receive email. Perhaps you get excessive spam and/or cannot open folders. These are all common errors with the same cause.

What are Registry Errors and What do They Have to do with Outlook Express?
What are registry errors you may ask? To answer that question, I have to get into some technical explanations, but I’ll put it into plain English for you.

The registry is the core programming code of your Windows operating system.  So if there are errors in the registry, you will see it in programs you use frequently and the speed of your computer.

Manual Fix of Outlook Express
You can try a variety of fixes to fix Outlook Express.  It’s hard to diagnose it until you try them out through trial and error.  The first and easiest thing to do is to restart your computer.  Sometimes that’s all it takes.  If this doesn’t work, start with deleting your temporary files.

  1. Shut down all your programs except Outlook and your Internet Browser.
  2. Go to Internet Options and click “Tools”.
  3. Go to Temporary Internet Files and click on “Delete”.
  4. A box will pop up.  Make sure that you click “Delete all offline files” and “OK”.  This will delete all of your Outlook Express Temporary Files.

If none of these solutions work, you can look into reregistering Outlook or compacting the folders in the Outlook files.  The easiest option is to purchase a registry tool to do this for you.

The Benefits of a Registry Cleaner
It used to be that you would have to re-install Windows every few years to deal with the registry errors and get your computer working properly. This is no longer the case. Now we have programs called registry cleaners.

These programs go in and clean up the registry errors that can cause so much havoc on our computers, and thus our daily lives. So what are you waiting for? Repair Outlook Express errors quickly and easily with a registry cleaner.

How to Repair Outlook Express by Maintaining Your Registry

    Posted by Kat

If you are experiencing problems and need to repair Outlook Express, you will get good results from checking some of its registry entries.  All computer programs benefit from regular registry maintenance, and it will be of particular help when you need to repair Outlook Express’s most difficult errors.

    Dynamic Link Library Repair

An easy way to perform registry maintenance that is specific to Outlook Express is to reregister a few Dynamic Link Library files.  Other programs share these files as well, so doing this may clear up other errors on your computer.

    1. Under the Start menu, choose Run.
    2. Type “regsvr32 urlmon.dll” (without quotes) into the box and click OK.
    3. Go through these steps for each of the following files: “regsvr32 mshtml.dll”; “regsvr32 shdocvw.dll”; “regsvr32 browseui.dll”; “regsvr32 msjava.dll”.

After reregistering .dll files, we suggest running your registry cleaner to clean up any leftover damaged .dll files in your registry.  Registry maintenance software will also repair any other damaged entries for other programs that may be causing errors on your machine.

Repair Extensive Damage to Outlook Express

If these steps fail to clean up Outlook Express on your computer, the source of the program may lie in a more complicated registry entry or may pertain to a registry error that is not directly connected to Outlook Express.  A registry cleaner will fix all existing registry problems that cause errors on your machine.

Once these errors are fixed, set the registry cleaner for routine maintenance scans of your PC to prevent the errors from returning.  Every time programs are updated, installed, and removed, obsolete registry data can remain in your computer, which leads to blue screen errors, file errors, computer freezes, errors in programs such as Outlook Express, and general slow functioning.  Repair Outlook Express and prevent recurring errors with registry maintenance.
