2. The “Total Selected Updates” page will now be open.  Here, each update will be displayed along with that update’s function. If you wish to omit one of these updates, you can simply deselect that update.
3. Click “Install Now.”
4. You’ll need to accept a License Agreement before installing updates. Click “Accept” and your computer will begin installing the updates.

After you have installed these updates, then restart your computer again. Go into Automatic Updates and turn them on one more time. Many times, this will resolve the svchost error.

Get Rid of Corrupted Windows Update Files

• At the same command prompt, type “net stop WuAu Serv” and Enter.
• Then type “cd %windir%” and Enter
• An opened folder will appear for you to rename.  Type “ren Software Distribution SD_OLD”.
• Restart the service update by typing in “net start WuAu Serv” in the command prompt
• Type “Exit” and Enter.
• Reboot your computer.
